Wild West History Association held its 1st Annual Wild West History Roundup at the Crown Plaza Hotel in Tulsa, Oklahoma, on July 16-19, 2008. The WWHA originated from the two major Old West organizations, NOLA (National Outlaw and Lawman Association) and WOLA (Western Outlaw and Lawman Association) joining together. + The event included presentations and panel discussions by prominent Wild West historians and authors, and historical tours. Members visited Woolaroc in Bartlesville, Dalton Defenders Museum and re-enactment of the Dalton raid in Coffeyville, Kansas, J.M. Davis Arms and Historical Museum in Claremore, Oklahoma, and Gilcrease Museum in Tulsa. + Authors' book signing and exposition continued throughout the event. Some 30 exhibitors displayed their books.
A new 7 foot-8 inch statue of Wyatt Earp was dedicated at the Wyatt Earp homestead in Tombstone, Arizona at 2:30 p.m., Friday, November 14, 2008. + Tombstone historian Ben T. Traywick served as master of ceremonies. Ralph N. Earp, from Pennsylvania; Wild West History Association founding president, Bob McCubbin; and Terry "Ike" Clanton also spoke at the event. + The Annual Western History Symposium and Book Exposition in association with the Notorious Clanton Clan took place during this time.
